intervals as may be prescribed by the instrument constitut- ing such company, or by its regulations or by-laws, canso an investigation to be made into its financial condition by an actuary, and shall cause an abstract of the report of such actuary to be made in the form prescribed in the fifth Schedule to this Ordinance.

15. Every life insurance company shall, on or before the thirty-first day of December, one thousand nine hundred and seven, and thereafter within nine months after the date of each such investigation as aforesaid into its financial con- dition, prepare a statement of its life insurance and annuity business, in the form contained in the sixth Schedule to this Ordinance; each of such statements to be made up as at the date of the last investigation, whether such investiga- tion be made previously or subsequently to the commence- ment of this Ordinance: Provided as follows:-

(1.) If the next financial investigation, after the commencement of this Ordinance of any life insurance company, fall during the year one thousand nine hundred and eight, the said state- ment of such life insurance company shall be prepared within nine months after the date of such investigation, instead of on or before the thirty-first day of December, one thousand nine hundred and soven.

(2.) If such investigation be made annually by any life insurance company, such life insurance company may prepare such statement at any time, so that it be made at least once in every three years.

The expression "date of each such investigation" in this section shall mean the date to which the accounts of each life insurance company are made up for the purposes of each such investigation.

16. The Governor-in-Council upon the application of or with the consent of a life insurance company, may alter the forms contained in the Schedules to this Ordinance, numbered from one to six, both inclusive, for the purpose of adapting them to the circumstances of such life insurance company, or of better carrying into effect the object of this part of the Ordinance,

17. Every statement or abstract hereinbefore required to be made by a life insurance company shall be signed by the principal officer thereof managing the life insurance business in Hongkong, and shall be printed; and the original, so signed as aforesail, together with three printed copies thereof, shall be deposited with the Registrar of Companies within nine months of the dates respectively hereinbefore prescribed as the dates at which the same are to be prepared.

And every annual statement so deposited after the first investigation after the commencement of this Ordinance shall be accompanied by three printed copies of the abstract required to be made by section fourteen.

19. A printed copy of the last-deposited statement abstract or other document by this Ordinance required to be printed shall be forwarded by the life insurance com- pany, by post or otherwise, on application, to every share- holder and policy holder of the company,

20, Every life insurance company not registered under shareholders. "The Companies Ordimuce 1865" shall keep a register of shareholders in like form and containing like particulars in the manner provided by such Ordinance and shall furnish, on application, to every shareholder and policy holder of the life insurance company, a copy of such book, on payment of a Sum not exceeding fifty cents for every hundred words required to be copied for such purpose.
