EASTERN ARCHIPELAGO.
JAVA-NORTH COAST.
Batavia Roads--Reefs in Western Approach.
The Netherlands Government has given Notice, of the existence of the undermentioned reefs lying in the approach to
roads from the westward; also, of the depths on certain shoals already charted :—
A reef (Delina reef), about half a cable in extent, with a least depth of 24 fathoms, and 20 fathoms around, lies with est extreme of Parrie island bearing N. 4 W., distant 14 miles.
Psition, lat. 5° 53′ 20′′ S., long. 106° 36′ 30′′ E.
Panyang di Lant rocks (south-east of Parrie island), on which 34 fathoms is shown, has a least depth of 2 fathoms.
A reef (Badyu reef), 130 yards in extent, with a depth of 4 fathoms, lies with Serassa rock buoy bearing W. 4 S.,
1 miles.
Position, lat. 5° 54′ 00′′ S., long. 106° 39′ 50′′ E.
A few coral patches with depths of 6 to 73 fathoms lie N. by E. 3 E. from Badyu reef, distant about 34 cables. Areof (Mortuli reeƒ'), about half a cable in extent, aud a least depth of 41⁄2 fathoms, lies S.S.E. of Badyu reef, distant
root (Adyung reef), 130 yards in extent, and a least depth of 4 fathoms, lies with Saauw (Sau) reef buoy bearing

, distant 34 cables. A patch of 4 fathoms exists W.S.W. from Adyung reef, distant 2 cables.
A (Lekapo reef'), about 80 yards in extent, with a least depth of 24 fathoms lies with Sau reef buoy hearing N.E. stant about 14 miles. The reef, 6 cables W. by N. 4 N. from Lekapo reef, does not exist.
ko reef, close northward of the Inner fairway, and about ouc mile southwest of Middleburg island, with 4 fathoms
it, has a least depth of 44 fathoms.
more coral patches have been found to exist nothward of Middleburg island, south of Sau reef; this part of Jannel therefore must be considered dangerous.
