On the 23rd at 12.05 p. The barometer has fallen considerably over the Philippines, and a slight to moderate fall of the mercury has occurred also, on the China coast and in Formosa. A circular depression appears to be developing, probably to the E.N.E. of the Paracels, in the low pressure trough lying across the N. part of the China Sea. weather may be
exp ected over the middle and Northern parts of the China Sea, with strong N.E. winds along its Northern shores and in the Formosa Channel." Forecast :-“ N.E. winds, strong; squally, showery."
On the 21th at 12.05 p.-"The barometer has fallen moderately over Formosa, the Loochoos and Japan, and a slight fall has occurred over the Philippines and S. China. The low pressure trough still lies over the N. part of the China Sea, probably in about 19a Lat. A depression may be forming in the trough in the neighbourhood of the Balingtang Channel. Disturbed weather will continue to prevail over the China Sea, and strong N.E. winds may be expected in the Formosa Channel and along the Northern shores of the China Sea." Forecast:-"E. and N.E. winds, fresh or strong; squally, showery."
On the 25th at 12.05 p. “The barometer has fallen considerably over Formosa and the Southern Loochoos, and a further slight fall has occurred over S. Chim. In the Southern Philippines pressure is slowly increasing. The depression, which is probably becoming deeper, appears to be situated to the S. E. of Formosa and to be moving slowly towards N.W. N.E. gales are expected to prevail in the Formosa Channel, and fresh or strong N. E. and N. winds along the Northern shores of the China Sea." Forecast: -N.E. to N. winds, fresh ; squally, showery."
On the 26th at 12.05 p.-" Except over
ver the Southern Philippines, the barometer la fallen generally, slightly on the China coast and in Formosa and considerably over the Loochoos and S.W. Japan. The depression appears to be moving slowly Northwards to the S.E. of Meiaco Sima. Pressure is highest over the Yangtze Valley. Strong N.E. and N. winds may be expected in the Formosa Channel, and fresh N.E. to N.W. winds along the Northern shores of the China Sea." Forecast:-- N.E. to N winds, fresh or moderate: squally, showery."
On the 27th at 11.50 a.-"The depression moving towards N.N.E., passed to the E. of the Loochoos last night and is this morning situated to the S. E. of Kiusiu. The barometer has risen considerably to moderately over the Loochoos, Formosa and the S. Philippines, while in the neighbourhood of Hongkong it is unchanged. The low pressure trough still lies over the N. part of the China Sea, probably in about 19° Lat. A circular depression may have formed or be forming in it to the S.E. of Hongkong. Disturbed weather may be expected over the N. part of the China Sea, with strong N.E. winds in the Formosa Channel, and along the S. coast of China." Forecast:-"N.E. winds, strong; fair to squally, and unsettled."
On the 28th at 11.55 a.- The barometer has risen considerably in Hongkong, and fallen quickly at Sharp Peak. The China Sea depression, which appears to be shallow, moved up the Formosa Channel last night. and is this morning situated off the coast in the neighbourh od of Foochow. The other depression is moving to N.E. over S.E. Japan. Pressure has reached the normal over the 'hilippines, and nearly so in Hongkong. It is highest over the Pacific to the E. of the Philippines. Strong S.W. winds may be expected in the Formosa Channel, and fresh S. monsoon over the N. part of the China Sea." Forecast:-"S.W. winds, moderate to fresh; fair.'
On the 29th at 11.45 a. The barometer has fallen quickly over S.W. Japan, and risen moderately at the Formosa Channel stations. The depression appears to have moved quickly to the Ñ..E., and to be now situated over Korea. The depression lying over S.E. Japan yesterday, is moving away over the Pacific. Pressure is practically normal over S. China and the Philippines, but inclined to give way again over the S. part of the latter area. Moderate S. monsoon may be expected in the Formosa Channel and the N. part of the China Sea." Forecast:-" S.E. winds, moderate; fine at first, showery later."
On the 30th at 11.45 a.-The depression is moving towards N.E. over E. Japan. The barometer has risen moderately in W. Japan, and fallen slightly on the E. coast of China. Pressure is low apparently, over China to the North of the Yangtze. It is normal over S. China, the Loochoos and the Philippines. Moderate to fresh S. monsoon may be expected
Forecast:- in the Formosa Channel and the N. part of the China Sea.
"S. winds, moderate to fresh; squally, thunder showers."
