The following.notices have been issued during the month :-

On the 1st at 12.05 p.-“ The barometer has risen in Japan, and fallen over Formosa and Central China. The Northern depression has moved into the Pacific to the N.E. of Japan. A slight depression, developed in the low pressure trough to the S.W. of Formosa, moved to the N.E. last night and is now situated in the neighbourhood of N. Formosa. Pressure is highest over S. W. Japan. It is still somewhat low over the N. part of the China Sen. Fresh variable winds may be expected in the Formosa Channel, and fresh E. winds along the S. coast of China." Forecast:

Forecast E. winds, fresh squally, rainy."

On the 2nd at 11.55 a.- The barometer has fallen over the Loochoos, and risen in Formosa. The depression, which is now situated to the W. of the Loochoos, continues to move towards N.E. or E.N.E. Pressure appears to be low over S.W. China and Tongking, It is high over S. Japan. Fresh to strong S.E. to S.W. winds may be expected in the Forecast:-" S. to Formosa Channel, and along the Northern shores of the China Sea.” S.W. winds, fresh or strong; squally, rainy."

On the 3rd at 11.45 a.-- "The barometer has fallen moderately over S. Japan, and risen considerably to moderately over N.E. Japan and the Loochoos respectively. The depression lying near the Loochoos yesterday, is moving Eastwards over the Pacific to the S. of Japan. A second depression, which is probably moving Fastwards, is shown over the Lower Yang- tze this morning. Fresh S.W. winds may be expected in the Formosa Channel and moderate S.W, and S. winds over the N. part of the China Sea.” Forecast:- S.W. winds, fresh or moderate; squally, showery,”
