RESOLUTION. The Colonial Secretary addressed the Council and moved the follow- ing Resolution :

Resolved by the Legislative Council tha the percentages on the valuation of tenements payable as rates on the under-mentioned Lots be altered from the 1st January, 1920, as follows

The whole of Shamshuipo,

with the exception of the old village lots, and the following:-

MILITARY SERVICE REPEAL BILL.-His Excellency the Governor having addressed the Council, the Colonial Secretary moved the First reading of a Bill intituled An Ordinance to repeal the Military Service Ordinance, 1917, and the General Military Service Ordinance, 1918.

The Colonial Treasurer seconded.

Question-put and agreed to.

Bill read a first time.

The Colonial Secretary moved the suspension of the Standing Orders so that the Bill might be passed through all its stages at that meeting of the Council.

The Colonial Treasurer seconded.

Question-put and agreed to.

The Colonial Secretary then moved the Second reading of the Bill.

The Colonial Treasurer seconded.

His Excellency the General Officer Commanding the Troops addressed the Council. Question-put and agreed to.

Council in Committee on the Bill.

On Council resuming, the Colonial Secretary reported that the Bill had passed through Committee without amendment and moved that it be read a third time.

The Colonial Treasurer seconded.

Question-put and agreed to.

Bill read a third time and passed.

ADJOURNMENT.-The Council then adjourned until after the meeting of the Finance

Committee.

REPORT OF THE FINANCE COMMITTEE.----On Council resuming, the Colonial Secretary reported that the Finance Committee had approved Financial Minutes Nos. 126 to 172, and he moved their adoption.
