Position (approximate).---The Light-Vessel will be moored in about 20 fathoms of water, at a distance of 20 miles, (240° S. 55° W. Mag.) from Merkara Shoal.
Lat. 10° 40' S.; Long. 140° 55' E. on Chart No. 447.
Characteristics.-

Character.-Group Flashing white light, showing three flashes in quick
succession every fifteen seconds, thus:-

(b) Fog Signal:-
· Description.---A bell sounded by the motion of the vessel.

Description.--The vessel has one mast carrying the lantern; the hull is painted red and marked "Carpentaria" in white on sides.
Remarks. The lights will be unwatched.

All vessels arriving therefrom are to abide, and be governed, by the Sanitary Regn- lations for the ports of Tientsin and Chinwangtao.
