Otaru Harbour.

NOTICE is hereby given that Otaru Ko Lighthouse on the end of No. 1 break- water, Otaru Harbour, has been discontinued (See Notification No. 461 of Department of Communications, April, 1919), since the 10th of April, 1919.

Otaru Harbour.

NOTICE is hereby given that Otaru Ko Temporary Lighthouse which had been established by the Hokkaido Government on the end of No. 2 breakwater was changed as follows, its description, height of light, etc., under control of the Department of Com- munications on and after the 1st of April, 1919: –

Otaru Ko Temporary Lighthouse.

Description :-Iron square lattice work.

Height of light-26 shaku above the base, 29 shaku above the water.

Power :--20 candles.

Visible distance:-5 nautical miles in clear night.

N.B. Others remain no change thus:-

Position Latitude 43° 12′ 3′′ N., Longitude 141° 1′ 22′′ E. (According to Japanese Admiralty chart No. 5.) Painting :--White. Character of light :-F. green. Illuminated are:-The whole horizon. Remarks:-The light being unwatched, should the light go out by accident there may be some delay in relighting it.

Wreck of the S.S. Tenshin Maru: salvage operations,

warning to shipping, concerning.

NOTICE is hereby given that salvage operations are now in progress on the wreck of the S.S. Tenshin Maru lying in the upper section of the Harbour; all vessels in passing, or moving in the vicinity of, the wreck, must do so at the slowest speed possible.
