The following notices have been issued during the month by Mr. FIGG :- On the 1st at 11.55 a.- "The barometer has risen on the China coast, particularly in the North. The high pressure area still lies over China, and pressure remains in defect over the Pacific to the E. of Luzon. Gradients moderate to rather steep, with very strong monsoon on the coast and in the N. part of the China Sca." Forecast :--- "moderate N winds; fine.

On the 2nd at 11.40 a.--The barometer is inclined to fall on the China coast.

The high pressure area still covers China, and pressure remains low in the Pacific to the NE of Luzon. Gra- dients moderate to rather steep, with very strong monsoon in the Formosa Channel and N part of the China Sea." Forecast :-" moderate N winds; fine."

On the 3rd at 11.45 a. "The barometer continues to fall slowly on the China coast. The low pressure area in the Pacific seems to be moving slowly, at present in a WNW direction towards the South of Formosa, but it will probably fill up or recurve. Pressure remains high over the interior of China. Gradients moderate to rather steep, with N and NE gales in the Formosa Channel and NE part of the China Sea." Forecast :- "moderate N winds; fine."

On the 4th at 12.5 p.- "The barometer has fallen on the China coast and over the Philippines. The depression seems to be situated near N. Luzon, and probably moving in a Westerly direction. The highest pressure lies over N China and Japan. Gradients moderate to rather steep, with strong monsoon ou the coast generally, and gales in the NE part of the China Sea." Forecast:--"fresh N winds; fair, squally."
