No. 841.-His Excellency the Governor has been pleased to appoint Mr. WALTER PHILIP THOMPSON to be an Assistant Superintendent of Police, with effect from 11th December, 1931.

No. 842.-His Excellency the Governor has been pleased to appoint Mr. WONG KWONG-TIN to be a Member of the Sanitary Board for a further term of three years, with effect from 12th January, 1932.

Rules made by the Chief Justice of the Supreme Court of Hong Kong with the -concurrence of the Governor, under section 4 of the Suitors' Funds Ordinance, 1896, Ordinance No. 5 of 1896, as amended by the Suitors' Funds Amendment Ordinance, 1931, Ordinance No. 34 of 1931, on the 31st day of December, 1931.

1. The Suitors' Funds Rules, 1928, as amended on the 6th day of March, 1931, are hereby further amended, with effect from and including the 1st day of January, 1932, as follows.

2. Rule 3 is amended by the addition thereto of the following paragraph :

(j) "Accountant means the Accountant, Supreme Court.

3. Rule 4 (6) is deleted and the following paragraph is substituted therefor :-

(6) Where the funds lodged are money the Registrar shall pay the same to an account to be called the Suitors' Funds Account at such bank as the Treasurer shall direct.

4. Rule 7 is deleted and the following Rule is substituted therefor :-

7. Moneys lodged in court shall be paid out either in cash or by cheque in cases where the amount does not exceed $40 and by cheque where the sum exceeds $40, such cheques to be signed by the Registrar and Accountant, or, in the absence of either of them, by the Deputy Registrar, Supreme Court, in lieu of such absentee.

Payment out shall be made at the Supreme Court on Mondays, Wednes- days and Fridays, (unless public or general holidays) between the hours of 10 a.m. and 1 p.m., provided that no payment out may be demanded on either of the last two working days of each month,

5. Rule 8 and Rule 9 are amended in cach case by the deletion of the words "issue the necessary directions at the end thereof and by the substitution therefor of the words " pay such sum in accordance with Rule 7."

6. The Schedule to the Rules is amended by the deletion of Form No. 4.
