No. 712. It is hereby notified that His Excellency the Governor in Council has given directions for the rescission of the Order of the 10th September, 1931, published in the Gazette of the 11th September, 1931, as Government Notification No. 571, declar- ing Shanghai to be a place at which an infectious or contagious disease prevailed, and the same is hereby rescinded.

No. 713.-His Excellency the Governor has been pleased to appoint. Professor LINDSAY TASMAN RIDE, M.A., M.B., B.Ch., M.R.C.S., L.R.C.P., to be Lieutenant in the Hong Kong Volunteer Defence Corps, with effect from 20th October, 1931.

No. 716.-His Excellency the Governor has been pleased to appoint Mr. ROBERT ANDREW DERMOD FORREST to act as District Officer in the Southern District of the New Territories in addition to his other duties, with effect from 9th November, 1931.

No. 717.-His Excellency the Governor has been pleased to authorise Mr. ROBERT ANDREW DERMOD FORREST, under the provisions of section 58 of the New Territories Regulation Ordinance, 1910, Ordinance No. 34 of 1910, to hold a Small Debts Court in the New Territories at the following places :
The charge rooms of the Police Stations at Tsuen Wan, Tai O (Lantao), Tung Chung (Lantao), Ch'eung Chau, Yung Shu Wan in Lamma Island, and
the office of the District Officer, South, situate in the building known as
