An Ordinance to amend further the Widows'

and Orphans' Pension Ordinance, 1908.

BE it enacted by the Governor of Hong Kong, with the advice and consent of the Legislative Council thereof, as follows:-

1. This Ordinance may be cited as the Widows' and Short title. Orphans' Pension Amendment Ordinance, 1931.

2.-(1) Paragraph (a) of section 3 (1) of the Amendment Widows' and Orphans' Pension Ordinance, 1908, is of Ordinance repealed and the following paragraph is substituted 1908, s. 3 (1). therefor :-

(a) every male person permanently employed in the service of the Government, whose salary has suffered abatement under this Ordinance, or who on or after the first day of January, 1930, is in receipt of a salary of not less than four hundred and eighty dollars per annum ;

(2) The following provisions are added at the end of sub-section (1) of section 3 of the Widows' and Orphans' Pension Ordinance, 1908 :-

Provided that Governors, their Private Secretaries and Aides-de-Camp, if not contributors before they held these positions or if they be not holders of any other substantive appointment entitling them to be contributors, shall not be eligible to be contributors; and provided also that persons who have attained the age of forty-nine years, if not contributors before they attained that age, shall not be eligible to be contributors.

"; or if he has completed his contributions to an approved scheme”
