THE BERNE COPYRIGHT CONVENTION (FRENGH COLONIES AND PROTECTORATES) Order, 1930.
AT THE COURT AT BUCKINGHAM PALACE,
THE 27TH DAY OF OCTOBER, 1930.
PRESENT:
THE KING'S MOST EXCELLENT MAJESTY IN COUNCIL.
HEREAS His Majesty, by virtue of the authority conferred on Him by the Copy- right Act, 1911, (a) and having regard to the provisions of the revised Berne Copyright Convention of 1908, was pleased to make an Order in Council, dated the 24th day of June, 1912, (b) (hereinafter called the Principal Order), extending the protection of the said Act to certain classes of works to which protection is guaranteed by the said Convention:
And whereas France has acceded on behalf of the French Colonies and Protecto- rates under the authority of the French Ministry of the Colonies to the said Convention, subject to the reservation mentioned in the Schedule to this Order:
Now, therefore, His Majesty, by and with the advice of His Privy Council, and by virtue of the authority conferred upon Him by the Copyright Act, 1911, is pleased to order, and it is hereby ordered, as follows:
1. The Principal Order shall extend to the said French Colonies and Protectorates as if they were amongst the Foreign Countries of the Copyright Union therein named, subject to the following modifications:--
(a) The provisions of Article 2 Proviso (iii) (a) of the Principal Order shall apply as if the said French Colonies and Protectorates were included amongst the Foreign Countries named in those provisions.
(b) In the application of the provisions of Article (3) of the Principal Order to works of which the country of origin is any of the said French Colonies or Protectorates the date of this Order shall be substituted for the Com- mencement of the Act and for the Commencement of the Principal Order.
(c) In the application to such works of Sections 1 (2) (d) and 19 of the Copy- right Act, 1911, the date of this Order shall be substituted for the Com- mencement of the Act in Sections 19 (7) and 19 (8) wherever that expression occurs, and the 26th May, 1930, for the passing of the Act.
