6. Firing practice, as under, is notified for 23rd November, 1940:—
(a) Heavy gun practice between the hours of 10.00 a.m. and 4.00 p.m.
Firing Areas"A" and "B" will be affected.
Alternative date-24th November, 1940.
(b) Light gun practice between the hours of 6.00 p.m. and 12.00 midnight.

Firing Areas "D" and E" will be affected.
7. In accordance with sub-section 4 of section of the Defences (Firing Areas) Ordinance, 1936, masters of vessels and pilots of aircraft exempt from the operation of this Ordinance under section 10, are warned to assist in the carrying out of the firing practice by hastening through the firing areas affected or by consenting to be towed out of the firing area, if necessary, by any vessel acting under the orders of the Military Authorities.

AUSTRALIA-BASS STRAIT-DANGEROUS AREAS.
Position. (a) Lat. 38° 53′ S., long. 143° 30′ E. (approx.).
(b) Lat. 39° 08′ S., long. 146° 26' E. (approx.).
Details.-Dangerous areas exist off Cape Otway and Wilson's Promontory, and all
ships should avoid navigating within 30 miles of either cape.
Directions.-Port Phillip and Bass Straits are closed to shipping until further
orders.
