No. S. 450.--It is hereby notified that information has been received from League of Nations, Eastern Bureau, Singapore, to the effect that all passengers from Hong Kong to Netherlands East Indies are subject to medical inspection and :-

(a) May be kept under surveillance for a period not exceeding five days,

reckoning from the day of departure from Hong Kong;

(6) Deck and steerage passengers who cannot produce valid certificates of A certificate is considered inoculation shall be kept under surveillance. valid if it shows that inoculation has been performed within less than six months and more than six days before arrival, and is signed or countersigned by an official medical officer;

(c) Cabin passengers are usually exempted from surveillance if they can pro

duce valid certificates of inoculation.

BRITISH SECTION.

No. S. 451.-It is hereby notified that sealed tenders in triplicate, which should be clearly marked Tender for the purchase of Locomotive Ashes", will be received at the Colonial Secretary's Office until Noon of Friday, the 27th day of September, 1940, on behalf of the Kowloon-Canton Railway.

The ashes are unscreened as discharged from Locomotive grates, and the average monthly quantity is about 60 tons.

No tender will be considered unless the person tendering produces a receipt to the effect that he has deposited with the Accountant-General the sum of $50 as a pledge of the bona fides of his offer, which sum shall be forfeited to the Crown if such person shall refuse to carry out his tender, should his tender be accepted.

Tender forms and full particulars can be obtained on application to the Railway Offices, Kowloon.

The Government does not bind itself to accept the highest or any tender.

PUBLIC WORKS DEPARTMENT.

No. S. 452.-It is hereby notified that sealed tenders in quintuplicate, which should be clearly marked “Tender for Repairs to Grab Dredger No. 1 ", will be received at the Colonial Secretary's Office until Noon of Monday, the 30th day of September, 1940, for slipping, repairing and painting Government Grab Dredger No. 1.

The work to be carried out to the satisfaction of the Surveyor of Engines, Yaumati. The Government does not bind itself to accept the lowest or any tender.
