Details.-(1) Small stagings approximately 8 feet square and having their tops about 12 feet above M.L.W.S. are now in course of erection in

the above positions.

(2) During the day Red Flags will be displayed; but station "B" alone

will show a Red Light by night.

Remarks.-Boring in connexion with preliminary investigations for proposed

reclamation will be in progress at these points.

APPROACHES TO PENANG-CERTAIN LIGHTS TO BE EXTINGUISHED.

Position.-Approaches to Penang.

Details.-On or about the 10th September, 1940, the following Lights will be

extinguished and will not be relit until further notice :-

(a) North Channel Beacon at Baganjeremal.

(b) North Channel Float.

(c) South Channel Beacons Nos. 3, 4, 5 and 6.

(d) Nos. 3 and 9 Buoys.

(e) Kra Light float.

Remarks.--The North Channel and Kra Light floats will be withdrawn from

station.

Charts Affected.-Nos. 793, 830, 1355, 1366 and 3732.

JAVA-SOURABAYA STRAIT-LIGHTVESSEL REMOVED.

Lightbuoy temporarily established.

Former Notice. No. 157/1940 of the 10th July, 1940.

Position. Lat. 6° 44' 30" S., long. 112° 46′ 30′′ E.

Details. The lightvessel referred to in paragraph 2 (a) of the former notice has been temporarily replaced by a Red buoy exhibiting a White Flashing Light of three seconds duration every eighteen seconds and having a visibility of seven miles.

Abridged Description. Fl. ev. 18 sec. vis. 7 M.
