3. Firing practice as under will be carried out on August 21st, 1940:-
(a) Anti-Aircraft firing practice will be carried out on the South, East and
West Coasts of the Island between the hours of 9.00 a.m. and 4.00 pm.
Firing Areas "B", "C" and "D" will be affected.
(b) Heavy gun firing practice may be carried out between the hours of 4.00 p.m. and 10.00 p.m. (Alternative date for practice notified for 14th August, 1940).

4. Firing practice as under will be carried out on August 22nd, 1940: -
(a) Light gun firing practice will be carried out between the hours of 9.00
a.m. and 4.00 p.m.
Firing Arca "A" will be affected.
Alternative date-23rd August, 1940.
(b) Anti-Aircraft firing practice will be carried out on the South, East and West Coasts of the Island between the hours of 9.00 a.m. and 4.00 p.m.
Firing Areas "B", "C" and "D" will be affected.
5. Light gun firing practice will be carried out between the hours of 6.00 p.m. and 12.00 midnight on 23rd August, 1940.
Firing Areas "D" and E" will be affected.
6. Light gun firing practice will be carried out between the hours of 9.00 a.m. and 4.00 p.m. on 25th August, 1940.
Firing Area "C" will be affected.
7. In accordance with sub-section 4 of section 4 of the Defences (Firing Areas) Ordinance, 1936, masters of vessels and pilots of aircraft exempt from the operation of this Ordinance under section 10, are warned to assist in the carrying out of the firing practice by hastening through the firing areas affected or by consenting to be towed out of the firing area, if necessary, by any vessel acting under the orders of the Military Authorities.

BLACKOUT.
A blackout will take place in Hong Kong on the night of 27th/28th August, 1940, and the following is issued at the request of the Director of Air Raid Precautions for the information of shipping :---
1. In this exercise, the blackout will automatically commence at sunset (1845 hours) and no air raid warning will be sounded at this hour. It will, however, be sounded at some period during the dark hours to indicate the imminence of an imaginary air attack.
