All shipping is requested to co-operate in order that, as far as possible, the port may simulate the conditions of a closed-port".

In this connexion, it is requested that the movement of all shipping and water craft between the hours of 9 p.m. and 11 p.m. on the night of 27th instant be reduced to the absolute minimum, and that all ships entering, leaving or in the harbour, will darken ship or be capable of obscuring or extinguishing all lights within three minutes of the sounding of the air raid warning signal.
Navigation lights should be used through the whole period of the blackout.
Lights other than navigation lights must not be relit until the "raiders passed" signal has been sounded, when normal conditions may be resumed.
Vessels under-way, when the air raid warning signal is sounded, should proceed to the nearest safe auchorage or make fast to a pier.
Air Raid Signals.
The commencement of the exercise will be indicated by the sounding of the Air Raid Warning Signal, namely-a fluctuating blast from electric syrens extending over a period of three minutes, followed by the extinction of all street lighting.
The "Raiders passed" signal (indicating that the exercise is terminated and normal. lighting may be resumed) will be indicated by a steady blast from electric syrens extending over a period of three minutes, followed by the resumption of street lighting.
Lighting Trials,
It is notified for information that H. M. Dockyard will be carrying out certain experimental lighting trials during the latter part of the exercise.
Air Raid Wardens.
Air Raid Wardens will be on duty and may be recognized by the Official A. R. P. badge which they will be wearing. They have been anthorized to draw the attention of those concerned to any lights which do not comply with the Lighting Control Regula- tions during the period from the sounding of the Air Raid Warning Syrens to the "raiders passed" signal.
If any individuals fail to comply with the requests of the Air Raid Wardens in regard to the Lighting Restrictions, the name and address of the offender will be taken and a report rendered to the Air Raid Precautions Officers.
The Honourable the Commissioner of Police has issued similar instructions to all Police Officers.
Air Raid Precautions.
Certain Sections of the Medical, Decontamination, Fire Brigade, Police, Air Raid Wardens and Communication Services will carry out exercises.
Note.
Should the conditions prove unsuitable on the night of the 27th instant, the black- out exercise will be postponed and will take place on the following night, the 28th instant, under the same Lighting Restrictions and conditions.
