COLONIAL SECRETARY'S DEPARTMENT.

No. S. 250.--With reference to Notification No. S. 220 of 26th May, 1939, it is hereby notified that further information has been received from the Director, League of Nations Fastern Bureau, Singapore, to the effect that :-

(a) all passengers from Hong Kong are subject to medical inspection on arrival at Netherlands Indian Ports and may be kept under surveillance for a period not exceeding five days, reckoning from the day of departure from Hong Kong;

(b) deck and steerage passengers who cannot produce valid certificates of

inoculation against cholera shall be kept under surveillance ;

(c) cabin passengers are usually exempted from surveillance if they can produce

valid certificates of inoculation; and

(d) a certificate is considered valid if it shows that inoculation has been per- formed not less than six days and not more than six months prior to the date of arrival in Netherlands India, and is signed or countersigned by an Official Medical Officer.
