(3) No desk shall be placed nearer to the blackboard than three feet, and the blackboard shall be placed in such a position that it is, in the opinion of an Inspector, adequately illuminated and so arranged as to provide every pupil with an easy and unobstructed view thereof.
(4) No text book shall be used in any school in which, in the opinion of an Inspector, the print is so small or of such poor quality as to be difficult to read or injurious to the eyesight of the pupils.
24. The manager shall, if so required in writing by the Director, cause the whole or any part of the school premises to be colour-washed or repainted in a colour approved by the Director.
25. Teachers and pupils must at all times be clean and tidy.
26. The manager shall not cause or permit any food to be cooked or eaten, or tobacco to be smoked in any classroom during school hours; smoking of opium and the presence of epium smoking couches and implements in school premises is absolutely prohibited.
27. Spitting, except into spittoons, is prohibited on school premises. Spittoons must contain a disinfectant fluid and must be emptied and cleansed at least once daily.
28.(1) An Inspector or Sub-Inspector may examine in any school the person and clothing of any child attending the school: provided that female pupils over the age of ten years shall not be examined by a male person except with the consent of the head teacher and in the presence of an adult female person.
(2) If on such examination the Inspector or Sub- Inspector is of the opinion that the person or clothing of any pupil is infected with vermin or is in a foul or filthy condition, he may give notice in writing to the manager or any teacher, requiring him to exclude such pupil from the school until such time as the person and clothing of the pupil have been cleansed to the satisfaction of the Inspector or Sub-Inspector.
29. If an Inspector or Sub-Inspector certifies that any teacher or pupil should be excluded from any specified school by reason of his suffering or having recently suffered from any infectious disease or by reason of his having been in contact with or living in the same house as a person suffering or having recently suffered from an infections disease, the manager shall canse such teacher or pupil to be excluded from the school for such period as the Inspector or Sub- Inspector shall deem necessary.
30. No manager or teacher shall knowingly admit to any school any teacher or pupil excluded from any other school under regulation 28 or regulation 29.
31. The manager or head teacher shall immediately report to an Inspector any suspected or known case of infectious disease amongst teachers or pupils, or when he suspects or knows that any of his teachers or pupils has been in contact with a case of infectious disease.
