(2) For the purpose of calculating the number of pupils to be accommodated in any classroom, there shall be deducted from the total superficial area of the classroom-
(a) the space reserved for the teacher,
(b) areas which, in the opinion of the Director, are inadeguately lighted,
(e) areas occupied by cubicles or living accommodation.
8. Every school shall be provided with latrine accom- modation and sanitary arrangements which-
(a) conform to the provisions of Appendix A to these regulations, and
(b) are, in the opinion of the Director, adequate and satisfactory.
9. Every type of latrine accommodation shall be subject. to the approval of the Director.
10. In any school in which water closets are installed, no other type of latrine accommodation shall be used.
11. Every room used for latrine accommodation shall-
(a) be provided with an opening or openings into the external air having a total area equal at least to one-tenth of the area of the floor of the room, and
(b) at all times be kept in a clean and sanitary condition.
12. The floor of every room used for latrine accom- modation and the walls of every such room to a height of not less than three feet shall be rendered in cement, mortar or other impervious material approved by an Inspector.
13. No room used for latrine accommodation shall be used for any other purpose.
14. In every latrine not fitted with a flush system-- (a) every pan shall have a capacity of at least three gallons, and
(b) every urinal vessel shall have a capacity of at least four gallons,

If in the opinion of the Director any school is being conducted in an insanitary or unhygienic manner, the manager shall effect and maintain such alterations or improvements as the Director may prescribe by notice in writing, and such alterations or improvements shall be carried out within the time specified in the notice.
16. (1) If the supply of water provided for the use of the pupils or teachers of any school is in the opinion of an Inspector, insufficient or unwholesome, it shall be lawful for the Director, by notice in writing, to require the manager (a) to increase or improve the supply in such manner and within such time as shall be specified in the notice or (b) to alopt any precautions regarding the supply and use of the water as such Inspector may consider necessary and as may be specified in the notice.
(2) Any person who fails to comply with the notice mentioned in paragraph (1) of this regulation shall be deemed to commit an offence against this regulation.
