No. 599. With reference to Government Notification No. 360, published in the Gazette of the 5th May, 1938, His Excellency the Governor has received information from the Secretary of State for the Colonies that Mr. ROBERT EMMET FARRELL has been appointed Honorary Vice-Consul for Spain at Hong Kong.

No. 600.-Ilis Excellency the Governor has been pleased to appoint Mr. RICHARD EDWARDS to be First Police Magistrate, with effect from the 20th July, 1939, during the absence on short leave of Mr. R.A.D. FORREST, or until further notice.

No. 601.-It is hereby notified that Mr. AKIYOSHI TAJIRI, Consul-General for Japan at Hong Kong resumed charge of the Consulate-General for Japan on 20th July, 1939.

No. 602. It is hereby notified that during the absence from the Colony of Monsieur FRANCK L. N. DUPUY, Consul for France at Hong Kong, Monsieur CHARLES RENNER, Vice-Consul for France will be in charge of the French Consulate.

No. 603. His Excellency the Governor has been pleased to appoint, under section ¤ of Ordinance No. 7 of 1935, The Honourable Mr. LI TSE-FONG to be a Member of the Urban Council during the absence from the Colony of Mr. WILLIAM NGARTSE THOMAS TAM, with effect from 22nd July, 1939.

No. 604. His Excellency the Governor has been pleased, under instructions from the Right Honourable the Secretary of State for the Colonies, to appoint Mr. CHARLES HERBERT BINGHAM-POWELL, B.Arch. (Liverpool), A.R.I.B.A., to be an Architect, Public Works Department, with effect from 19th July, 1939.
