6. Any process involving the production of glare or light of any description which is not completely screened to prevent the glare or light being visible out of doors shall be discontinued during the hours of darkness.
PART II.
General Exemptions.
7. Exemption from the provisions of the above regula- tions 2 and 3 may be granted by a competent naval, military or air force authority in the case of naval, military or air force establishments respectively, or by the Air Raid Precautions Officer in the case of other premises, subject in all cases to compliance with any conditions imposed or order issued by a competent naval, military, or air force authority, or by the Air Raid Precautions Officer, as the case may be.
Lights in Roads.
8. (1) A light to indicate obstructions on or near a road shall be provided. It must be so screened that no light is thrown above the horizontal and that no appreciable light is cast upon the ground and its intensity must not exceed that of an ordinary hurricane lamp or an electric lamp consuming not more than 5 watts.
(2) Further, any lights which the Air Raid Precautions Officer or which the competent naval, military, or air force authority directs to be retained shall not be extinguished but shall remain lighted subject to such conditions as the Air Raid Precautions Officer or competent naval, military or air force authority may direct.
Road Vehicles.
9. Vehicles on roads shall use during the hours of dark- ness lighting conforming to the following conditions:-
(a) In electric lamps, the bulb must not exceed 7 watts in power;
(b) in acetylene lamps, the burner must not more than 14 litre (cubic foot) per hour;

(c) in oil lamps, only one burner must be used; the wick must not exceed three-quarters of an inch in width;
(d) light may be emitted only through a single aperture facing to the front or rear as the case may be, of not more than 2 inch diameter or equivalent area. Side panels must be completely obscured by opaque material;
(e) the front glasses of all lamps must be obscured with at least two thickness of ordinary blue close woven cloth or paint.
The cloth, paint or other material must cover the whole of the portion of the front glass through which light can pass and must not be wetted, oiled, varnished or treated in any other way to increase its transparency.
(2) Traffic direction indicators, stop lights, and reversing lights may be used on vehicles on roads; stop and reversing lights must be so masked that light is emitted only through a single aperture of not more than 1 inch diameter or equivalent
