No. 527. His Excellency the Governor has given his assent, in the name and on behalf of His Majesty the KING, to the following Ordinances passed by the Legislative Council:-

Ordinance No. 21 of 1939. ---An Ordinance to extend for a further period the

powers of the Chartered Bank of India, Australia and China, the Hongkong and Shanghai Banking Corporation and the Mercantile Bank of India Limited to make, issue, re-issue and circulate

notes.

Ordinance No. 22 of 1939.—An Ordinance to amend the Merchant Shipping

Ordinance, 1899.

Ordinance No. 23 of 1939.-An Ordinance to amend the Telecommunication

Ordinance, 1936.

Ordinance No. 24 of 1939.—An Ordinance to continue and amend the Sterling

Salaries Conversion Ordinance, 1937.

Ordinance No. 25 of 1939.--An Ordinance to amend the Naval Volunteer Ördi-

nance, 1933, and provide for Naval Defence.

Ordinance No. 26 of 1939.--An Ordinance to amend the Rating Ordinance,

1901.

Ordinance No. 27 of 1939.-An Ordinance to amend the Dangerous Goods

Ordinance, 1873.

Ordinance No. 28 of 1939.-An Ordinance to amend the Pensions Ordinance,

1932.

Be it enacted by the Governor of Hong Kong, with the advice and consent of the Legislative Council thereof, as follows:-

1. This Ordinance may be cited as the Note-issuing Banks Extension of Powers Ordinance, 1989.
