No. 417.-His Majesty the KING has not been advised to exercise his power of disallowance with respect to the following Ordinance :-

Ordinance No. 13 of 1939.—An Ordinance to authorize an undertaking for the reclamation of an area of sea bed to abut the Jubilee Street Ferry Pier approaches and Con- naught Road to the Eastward of such approaches between Queen Victoria Street and Pottinger Street and for construction of a pier extending seawards from such reclamation and also for the construction of a temporary pier between the said reclamation and Douglas Wharf.

No. 418. His Excellency the Governor has been pleased under instructions from the Right Honourable the Secretary of State for the Colonies to appoint Mr. WALTER JOHN SKINNER to be Quantity Surveyor, Public Works Department, with effect from 1st December, 1938.

No. 419. His Excellency the Governor has been pleased, under instructions from the Right Honourable the Secretary of State for the Colonies, to appoint Miss ROSA WINIFRED WICKETT to be an Assistant Mistress (Domestic Science), Education Department, with effect from 24th May, 1939.

No. 420. His Excellency the Governor has been pleased, under section 9 of the regulations of the Hong Kong Naval Volunteer Force, to appoint STANLEY JOSEPHI SWETLAND, Esq., to be a Sub-Lieutenant in the Hong Kong Naval Volunteer Force, with effect from 9th May, 1939.

No. 421.-It is hereby notified that Mr. AKIYOSHI TAJIRI, Consul-General for Japan at Hong Kong resumed charge of the Consulate-General for Japan on 23rd May, 1939.
