4. It is ordained that the names of those to whom this Medal may be awarded shall be published in the London Gazette, and that a Register of such names shall be kept in the Office of Our Principal Secretary of State for the Colonies.
5. It is ordained that the Medal shall be worn on the left breast suspended from a ribbon one inch and three-eighths in width of which the central part (one half of an inch in width) shall be dark blue with two green borders, each three-eighths of an inch in width, and two silver stripes, each one-sixteenth of an inch wide, separating the borders from the central part. In the case of awards for gallantry the green borders of the ribbon shall each be centrally divided by a crimson stripe one- sixteenth of an inch in width.
6. It is ordained that any gallant conduct which is worthy of recognition by the award of the Colonial Police Medal, but is performed by one upon whom the Medal has already been conferred, may be recorded by a Bar attached to the ribbon by which the Medal is suspended. For each such additional award an additional Bar may be added, and for each Bar awarded a small silver rose may be added to the ribbon when worn alone.
7. It is ordained that it shall be competent for Us, Our Heirs and Successors by an Order under Our Sign Manual and on a recommendation to that effect by or through one of Our Principal Secretaries of State to cancel and annul the award to any person of the Colonial Police Medal, and that thereupon the name of such person in the Register shall be erased: Provided that it shall be competent for Us, Our Heirs and Successors to restore the Medal so forfeited when such recom- mendation has been withdrawn. And every person to whom the said Medal is awarded shall, before receiving the same, enter into an agreement to return the Medal if his name shall be erased as aforesaid.
8. It is ordained that the Medal shall be awarded under such regulations as to grant, forfeiture, restoration and other matters in amplification of these Our rules and ordinances as may be issued from time to time by one of Our Principal Secretaries of State.
9. It is ordained that as from the date of this Warrant the grant of "The African Police Medal for Meritorious Service," which was instituted and created by His late Majesty King George the Fifth by a Warrant under His Sign Manual dated the twenty-sixth day of July nineteen hundred and fifteen, for award to non-commissioned officers and men (other than those of European descent) of the Police Forces of East and West Africa, shall be discontinued for future service; and the aforesaid Warrant is hereby cancelled.
10. We reserve to Ourself, Our Heirs and Successors. full power of annulling, altering, abrogating, augmenting, interpreting or dispensing with these rules and ordinances, or any part thereof, by a notification under Our Sign Manual.
