Ordinances Nos. 2 of 1900 and 3 of 1914.

Amendment of Ordinance No. 2 of 1900, s. 2.

INTITULED

An Ordinance to amend further the Arms and

Ammunition Ordinance, 1900.

Be it enacted by the Governor of Hongkong, with the advice and consent of the Legislative Council thereof, as follows:-

1. This Ordinance may be cited as the Arms and Ammunition Ordinance, 1918, and shall be read and construed as one with the Arms and Ammunition Ordi- nance, 1900, with the Arms and Ammunition (Amend- ment) Ordinance, 1914, and this Ordinance and the said Ordinances may be cited together as the Arms and Ammunition Ordinances, 1900 to 1918.

2. The definition of the term " " in section 2 of the Arms and Ammunition Ordinance, 1900, is deleted and the following definition is substituted there- for :-

"Arms" includes--

(a) every firearm of any description:

(b) every air gun and every other kind of gun from which any shot, bullet or other missile can be discharged ;

(c) every sword, cutlass, spear, pike, bayo- net, dagger, fighting iron, or other deadly weapon; and

(d) every part of any such firearm, gun or

deadly weapon.

This bill amends the definition of the term in the principal Ordinance so as to make it include air guns. There have been recent cases in Hongkong where injury has been caused by the use of air guns. One case resulted in the loss of an eye.
