REFERRING to Harbour Notification No. 1 of 1918, Notice is hereby given that, the Superintendent of Customs and the Treaty Power Consuls having withdrawn the declara- tion of infection against Hongkong, the medical inspection of vessels arriving therefrom is discontinued here and at Chinwangtao.

North Fort Cavalier, ......N. 61° W., distant 6·08 sea miles. South Beacon,

.S. 843° W.,

The bearings are magnetic.

LOCAL NOTICE TO MARINERS, No. 194.

Taku Bar: New Official Channel, Opening of.

NOTICE is hereby given that the New Official Channel across Taku Bar is now avail- able to shipping.

It is recommended that vessels should not attempt to pass each other in the new channel, but that vessels proceeding against the tide should allow vessels proceeding with the tide to clear the channel before they enter it.

The tidal signals exhibited refer to the depth of water in the official channel only.

The gas lighted buoy at the outer extremity of, and the occulting white light at the quarantine station temporarily and provisionally serving, the southern channel will remain in their present positions for the time being and until further notice.
