TIENTSIN DISTRICT.
Taku Bar Leading Marks.
NOTICE is hereby given that two iron open work beacons have been erected, one on the mainland and one on the foreshore, about 126 miles, S. 9° W. Mag: (approx:) from the centre of the North Fort Cavalier.
The beacons are surmounted by spherical cages and are painted black.
The height of the outer beacon is 46 feet, and that of the inner beacon 80 feet, above high water, and they are 4,962 feet apart.
The lights exhibited on these beacons will have the following characteristics :-
On the outer or low mark, a white light occulting every second, thus,

Eclipse,
0.3 second.
0.7 second.
On the inner or high mark a fixed white light.
These beacons (and lights) will replace those known hitherto as the Taku Bar Inner Leading Marks ("Deep Hole "Marks-and lights).
Two pairs of wooden beacons (unlighted) are erected for dredging purposes, on lines parallel to the line of the Taku Bar Leading Marks, 75 feet distant therefrom on either side

Wreck of the S.S. "Guthrie", spar buoy marking: removal of.
REFERRING to Tientsin Local Notice to Mariners No. 173 of the 23rd September, 1916, notice is hereby given that the locality of the wreck of the S.S. Guthrie has been again examined and no obstacle having been found above the level of the sea bed the spar buoy will be removed.
Vessels are cautioned however against anchoring in the vicinity.
