NEWCHWANG DISTRICT.

LOCAL NOTICE TO MARINERS, No. 4.

NOTICE is hereby given that a red painted spar buoy has been placed 3 cables S. 40° E. of the Inner Bar Buoy. This spar buoy marks the outer end of the stone training wall now under construction by the Liao River Conservancy, and will be moved out as the wall extends.

An unpainted pole 21 feet high has been placed on the training wall opposite the West Fish Stakes.

Masters and Pilots should navigate the channel with caution.

The position of the training wall is shown on the chart of the Liao River (No. 10) a copy of which all steamers entering the Port should be provided with.

SPECIAL NOTICE TO MARINERS, No. 514.

CHINA SEA.

SHANGHAI DISTRICT-YANGTZE RIVER.

Entrance to the Whangpoo Lismore Flats.

Lismore Light-boat to be Discontinued; Light-buoy to be Established.

NOTICE is hereby given that on or about the 27th August, 1918, the Lismore Light- boat, moored off the northern edge of the Lismore Flats, southern side of the entrance to the Whangpoo, Yangtze River, will be discontinued.

In its place a black Buoy, gas-lighted, with a black spherical daymark surmounting the lantern, will be established.

This Buoy will exhibit an occulting white light every 8 seconds, thus:---
