Hainan Strait Hainan Head.

Hainan Reef Buoy Discontinued Beacon Established.

NOTICE is hereby given that the Hainan Reef Buoy, which hitherto marked the reef extending to the northward from Hainan Head, Hainan Island, has been permanently discontinued and that a Beacon has been established in its stead.

The Beacon, which is a concrete structure 10 feet in breath and 6 feet in height, surmounted by a black steel cylinder 8 feet high and 2 feet in diameter, is located on- the northern extremity of Hainan Reef. From the Beacon, the summit of Hainan Bluff bears S. 42° W., magnetic, distant 1:19 miles.

The Beacon, which is to be known as the Hainan Reef Beacon, shows 12 feet above high water of spring tides.

Caution.

Vessels should not approach the Beacon closer than 25 cables, owing to the existence of several outlying rocky patches.
