No. 1368.—His Excellency the Officer Administering the Government has seen fit, under the powers conferred on him by section 5 of the Shops (Hours of Closing) Ordinance, No. 5 of 1940, to order the suspension of the operation of the provisions. of the said Ordinance during the 21st, 22nd, 23rd, 24th, 30th and 31st December, 1940 and the 23rd, 24th, 25th and the 26th January, 1941.

His Excellency the Officer Administering the Government. has been pleased, pursuant to Section 11 (7) of the Compul- sory Service Ordinance, 1939, to permit HAROLD CARSTEN JOHN ASCHE to quit the Hong Kong Defence Reserve, with effect from 18th December, 1940.
