7. The principal Ordinance is amended by the addition of the following section at the end thereof :---

62. The Governor in Council may by Order exempt any person, office or institution from payment of the whole or any portion of any tax chargeable under this Ordinance.

8. The Amendments effected by this Ordinance and by Ordinance No. 21 of 1940 shall operate retrospectively to amendments. the commencement of the principal Ordinance and any pay- ment that may have been made in excess of the payment authorized by the principal Ordinance as so amended shall be refunded.

(WAR REVENUE).

In exercise of the powers conferred by section 58 (1) of the War Revenue Ordinance, 1940, the Board of War Taxation makes the following rule :

Rule III.

The following scale of depreciation is laid down for guidance.

Except with the permission of the Commissioner, who shall in special cases allow such greater depreciation as he thinks fit, no depreciation shall be allowed in excess of that specified in the scale.
