Ordinance No. 6 of 1940.-An Ordinance to provide for the establishment and regulation of the Hong Kong Corps of Air Raid Wardens.

Ordinance No. 13 of 1940.--An Ordinance to impose war taxes and to regulate

the Collection thereof.

No. 966.-His Excellency the Officer Administering the Government has been pleased to appoint Mr. WILLIAM JAMES CARRIE to be Chairman of the Urban Council, with effect from 2nd September, 1940.

No. 967.-His Excellency the Officer Administering the Government has been pleased to appoint Mr. GEORGE STACY KENNEDY-SKIPTON to be Controller of Food, with effect from 2nd September, 1940.

No. 968. With reference to Government Notification No. 842 of 26th July, 1940, Mr. HARRY MAUGHAN COCKLE ceased to act as Accountant, Treasury, with effect from 22nd August, 1940.

No. 969.-It is hereby notified for general information that the Government of the United States of America has agreed that the American Embassy at Rome shall extend to British interests in Italian East Africa such protection as may be feasible in view of the distance involved.
