No. 753. His Excellency the Officer Administering the Government has been pleased to approve that Lieutenant JOHN SPENCE HARDY SCOTT be allowed to resign his commission in the Hong Kong Volunteer Defence Corps, with effect from 7th July,

1940.

No. 754.-His Excellency the Officer Administering the Government has been pleased to appoint Mr. STEPHEN FRANCIS BALFOUR to be District Officer in the Southern District of the New Territories, with effect from 6th July, 1910.

5th July, 1940.

No. 755.-His Excellency the Officer Administering the Government has been pleased to authorize Mr. STEPHEN FRANCIS BALFOUR, a Magistrate, under the provisions of section 58 of the New Territories Regulation Ordinance, 1910, Ordinance No. 34 of 1910, to hold a Small Debts Court, as mentioned in the said section, at the under- mentioned places in the New Territories (exclusive of New Kowloon) in addition to the court-house at the office of the District Officer for the Southern District of the New and situate at the corner of Territories in the building known as "Queen's Building Chater Road and Statue Square, Victoria, in this Colony, and so long as he shall hold the office of District Officer for the Southern District of the New Territories.

No. 756.-llis Excellency the Officer Administering the Government has been pleased to appoint, under the provisions of section 3, sub-section (1), of the Factories and Workshops Ordinance No. 18 of 1937, Mr. MAK PING-KUEN () to be an Assistant Inspector of Labour, Factories and Workshops, with effect from 24th June, 1910.
