No. 465.-His Excellency the Governor has been pleased, under Section 3 (2) of the War Revenue Ordinance, 1940, the make the following appointments:-

1. Mr. THOMAS BLACK to be Commissioner, with effect from 1st April,

1940.

2. Messrs. CYRIL VAN LANGENBERG and FEANS LOURENSZ to be Examiners,

with effect from 2nd April, 1940.

No. 466. His Excellency the Governor has been pleased to appoint the Reverend FRANK SHORT and Mr. BENJAMIN WYLIE to be Members of the Board of Education for a further period of two years, with effect from the 9th and 15th April, 1910, respectively.

No. 467.-His Excellency the Governor has been pleased to appoint Mr. Lo Tung- FAN to be a Member of the Board of Education for a period of two years, with effect from 9th April, 1940.

No. 468.-His Excellency the Governor has been pleased to appoint, under section. 9(4) of the Liquors Consolidation Ordinance, 1931, Ordinance No. 36 of 1931, Mr. PILIP STANLEY CASSIDY, J.P., to be a member of the Licensing Board for a period of three years, with effect from 17th April, 1940.

No. 469.-His Excellency the Governor has been pleased to approve the following promotions in the Hong Kong Volunteer Defence Corps, with effect from 29th March, 1940:-

Second Lieutenant LAWRENCE GOLDMAN to be Lieutenant. Gunner ARTHUR CECH. IRVINE BOWKER to be Second Lieutenant.

No. 470.-It is hereby notified, under Section 5 Sub-section (3) of the Sisters of the Precious Blood Order Incorporation Ordinance No. 1 of 1936, that satisfactory proof of the appointment of Sister LUCY CHAN as Superioress in the place and stead of Sister JOHANNA TAM has been placed in the hands of His Excellency the Governor.
