PROCLAMATION.

Governor.

By His Excellency, Sir GEOFFRY ALEXANDER STAFFORD NORTHCOTE, Knight Commander of the Most Distinguished Order of Saint Michael and Saint George, Governor and Commander-in-Chief of the Colony of Hong Kong and its Dependencies and Vice-Admiral of the same.

WHEREAS by the third section of the Merchant Shipping Amendment Ordinance, 1939, (Ordinance No. 22 of 1939) it is provided that the said Ordinance shall not come into operation unless and until the Governor notifies by proclama- tion that it is His Majesty's pleasure not to disallow the same and thereafter it shall come into operation upon such day as the Governor shall notify by the same or any other pro- clamation.

Now I, the said Governor, do hereby PROCLAIM and NOTIFY that it is His Majesty's pleasure not to disallow the said Ordinance and that the said Ordinance shall come into operation on the 6th day of January, 1940.
