Order made by the Governor in Council under sub-section 3 of section 6 of the New Territories Regulation Ordinance, 1910, Ordinance No. 34 of 1910, this 15th day of August, 1918.

TAI O MARKET.

The area of Crown Land situate at Tai O in the Island of Lantao marked “Proposed Market" and coloured pink on the plan dated the 15th day of August, 1918, deposited in the District Land Office for the Southern District of the New Territories and marked "Tai O Market Plan" together with the building thereon is hereby declared to be the market for the market area as shown on the said plan.

Rules made by the Governor in Council under section 6 (3) of the New Territories Regulation Ordinance, 1910, Ordinance No. 34 of 1910, this 15th day of August, 1918.

TAI O MARKET RULES.

1. The market shall be used solely for the sale of fresh meat, fresh fish and fresh vegetables or such other commodities as may from time to time be specified.

2. Fresh meat, fresh fish and fresh vegetables shall not be sold or exposed for sale within the Tai O Market Area as determined by the Governor in Council on the 15th day of August, 1918, except in the market: Provided that this rule shall not prevent the retail sale of fish by licensed boatmen below low-water mark.

3. The site for each market stall shall be let to the person bidding the highest If a stall monthly rent at an auction conducted by the Assistant District Officer, South. be auctioned during the month only a proportionate amount of the rent for that month shall be payable.

4. All rent for stalls shall be paid each month in advance at Tai O Police Station where a receipt will be given.

5. In the event of any stall-holder failing to pay his rent in advance during the first 7 days of any month, his tenancy shall be deemed determined and the Assistant District Officer, South, shall be entitled to put up the stall to auction at once, and if necessary to evict the previous stall-holder therefrom.

6. The Assistant District Officer, South, shall be entitled to determine the tenancy of any stall on giving to the stall-holder one full month's notice in writing from the end of any month. Any person remaining in possession of a stall after his tenancy has been determined may be evicted from such stall.

7. If it appear to the said Assistant District Officer that any game of chance is played at any stall, whether for stakes or not, with or without the consent of the stall- holder, it shall be lawful for the said Assistant District Officer to terminate the stall- holder's tenancy at once and take possession of such stall and the balance of the rent paid shall be regarded as forfeited to Government.

8. The market shall be open to the Public between the hours of 6 a.m. and 8 p.m.

9. Every stall-holder, who absents himself from the Colony for a period exceeding one month, shall notify such fact to the Assistant District Officer, South, and report to him the name and address of the agent responsible for his stall during his absence.

10. No person shall make use of any avenue or thoroughfare of the market for the conveyance of merchandise not intended for sale or exposure for sale in the market.
