MAGISTRACY.

No. 314. It is hereby notified by command of His Excellency the Governor that an election by the Justices of the Peace of a Justice of the Peace to serve on the Legislative Council from the 29th August to the 1st November, 1918, during the absence of the Honourable Mr. HENRY EDWARD POLLOCK, K.C., will take place at the Magistracy on Wednesday, the 28th day of August, 1918, commencing at 4 o'clock in the afternoon. Justices of the Peace who are Government Officials are not entitled to take part in these proceedings.

Every candidate must be nominated in writing by one Justice and seconded by another and the nomination delivered to the undersigned not later than the 22nd August, 1918.

Forms may be obtained at the Magistracy.

POLICE DEPARTMENT.

No. 315-It is hereby notified that, in accordance with the Regulations pub- lished under Government Notification No. 202 of 31st May, 1918, commencing from 1st September, 1918, all Private Chairs have to be licensed at an Annual Licence Fee of $2 payable in advance.

Chair bearers have to be licensed at a fee of 30 cents each yearly.
