Regulations made by His Honour the Chief Justice pursuant to the Legal Practi- tioners Ordinance, 1871, Ordinance No. 1 of 1871, Section 3, as amended by the Legal Practitioners Amendment Ordinance, 1913, Ordinance No. 19 of 1915.

I, the undersigned, Chief Justice of the Colony of Hongkong, by virtue of the power and authority in me vested, do hereby order and direct as follows:-

1. The preliminary examination of persons intending to become bound under Articles of Clerkship to Solicitors shall be in accordance with the following regulations.

2. Candidates shall be required to pass:-

(1) In the obligatory subjects laid down in the syllabus for the Matriculation Examination of the University of Hongkong for candidates in the Faculty of Arts.

(2) In sub-sections 1 and 4 of the Latin examination prescribed by the said

syllabus.

Provided that a person who has already passed in any or all of the above subjects and who produces to the Registrar of the Supreme Court a certificate to that effect granted by the University of Hongkong shall be exempt from again passing in such subject or subjects.

3. The examination shall take place at the same time and place as the Matriculation Examination of the University of Hongkong for candidates in the Faculty of Arts and the candidate shall pay such fee, not exceeding $10, as the University of Hongkong shall prescribe.

APPOINTMENTS, &c.

No. 309.-Ilis Excellency the Governor has been pleased to appoint Mr. ROBERT BAKER to act as Manager of the British Section of the Kowloon-Canton Railway during the absence on leave of Mr. HERBERT PINCKNEY WINSLOW, or until further notice, with effect from the 19th June, 1918, in addition to his duties as Engineer of Ways and Works.
