No. 269.-Ilis Excellency the Governor has been pleased to appoint Mrs. ALICE DEBORAH HICKLING to act as Medical Officer of Health, and Mr. J. L. MCPHERSON to act as Secretary to the Sanitary Board, during the absence on leave of Mrs. DAISY ANNABELA MURDOCH GALE or until further notice, with effect from the 17th July, 1918.

No. 270.- His Excellency the Governor has been pleased to appoint Mr. CHARLES HERBERT PHILPOTT HAY to act as Assessor upon appeals to the Governor in Council under the provisions of the General Military Service Ordinance, 1918; in succession to the Honourable Mr. PERCY HOBSON HOLYOAK.

No. 271.-His Excellency the Governor has been pleased to appoint Mr. PHILIP PEVERIL JOHN WODEHOUSE to act as Captain Superintendent of Police and Mr. THOMAS HENRY KING to act as Deputy Superintendent of Police during the absence on leave of the Honourable Mr. CHARLES MCILVAINE MESSER or until further notice, with effect from the 17th July, 1918.

COLONIAL SECRETARY'S DEPARTMENT.

No. 272. It is hereby notified that, under instructions from the Secretary of State for the Colonies, replies to telegraphic applications for permission to export restricted goods must be paid for. The Superintendent of Imports and Exports is therefore autho- rised to require applicants for such permission to pay to him the sum of $7.50 in addition to the cost of the homeward telegram. This will have effect from 1st August, 1918.
