Order made by the Governor in Council under section 70 of the Probates Ordinance, 1897, Ordinance No. 2 of 1897, on the 12th day of June, 1929.

Whereas by section 70 of the Probates Ordinance, 1897, it is enacted that the Governor in Council may, on being satisfied that the legislature of any British possession has made adequate provision for the recognition in that possession of probates and administrations granted by the Supreme Court of this Colony, direct by order that the provisions of Part VI of the Probates Ordinance, 1897, relating to colonial probates shall, subject to any exceptions and modifications specified in the order, apply to that posses- sion, and thereupon, while the order is in force, those provisions shall apply accord- ingly;

And whereas the Governor in Council is satisfied that the legislature of the British possession hereinafter mentioned has made adequate provision for the recognition in that possession of probates and administrations granted by the Supreme Court of this Colony.

Now, therefore, the Governor in Council doth hereby order and direct that the pro- visions of Part VI of the Probates Ordinance, 1897, relating to colonial probates shall apply to the British possession of Ceylon in addition to the British possessions mentioned in the list set forth on pages 175 and 176 of the Regulations of Hong Kong, 1844-1925.

Regulations made by the Governor in Counal under section 2 of the Emergency Regulations Ordinance, 1922, Ordinance No. 5 of 1922, on the 13th day of June, 1929.

Water Shortage Regulations.

1. It shall be lawful for the Director of Public Works, or any person authorised by him, to take possession of, use and control, and to adapt if necessary, any water boat or lighter, or any other vessel which he may think suitable for the purpose of conveying or storing water, and any launch or other steamship which he may require for towing any such water boat, lighter or other vessel.

2. If the Director of Public Works takes possession of any water boat, lighter or other vessel, or any launch or other steamship, under the powers conferred on him by Regulation 1 of these regulations, the owner of such water boat, lighter or other vessel, or of such launch or other steamship, shall be entitled to be paid a reasonable amount by way of hire in respect of each day during which the water boat, lighter or other vessel, or launch or other steamship, remains in the possession of the Director of Public Works, and shall be entitled to be paid a reasonable amount by way of compensation in respect of any reconditioning necessary any such amount to be determined in case of disagree- ment by the tribunal referred to in Regulation 5 of these regulations.

3. It shall also be lawful for the Director of Public Works, or any person authorised by him to take possession of, and to use and control, for such period as he may think fit, any source of water supply, and any land, reservoirs, piers, works, pipe lines, machinery, or other things, held or usel for or in connexion with such source of water supply.
