Regulation made by the Governor in Council under section 23 of the Waterworks Ordinance, 1903, Ordinance No. 16 of 1903, on the 24th day of April, 1929.

The regulations set forth on pages 307 to 322 of the Regulations of Hong Kong, 1844-1925, amended as appears in Government Notifications No. 649 of 1926 and Nos. 332 and 495 of 1927, are hereby further amended by the addition of the following regula- tion,-

42. The washing of clothes, in any street, road or lane, within one hundred

yards of any public fountain is strictly prohibited.

APPOINTMENTS, &c.

No. 208. His Excellency the Governor has been pleased to appoint, under the provisions of section 10 of the Medical Registration Ordinance, 1884, Ordinance No. 1 of 1884, Mr. George GwinneTT NOBLE TINSON to be a Member of the Medical Board for a further term of three years, with effect from 7th April, 1929.

No. 209. His Excellency the Governor has been pleased to accept the resignation by Lieutenant ROBERT SPIERS LOGAN of his Commission in the Hong Kong Volunteer Defence Corps, with effect from 12th April, 1929.

No. 210.-His Excellency the Governor has been pleased to appoint Mr. NORMAN LOCKHART SMITH to be Head of the Sanitary Department and Registrar of Births and Deaths in addition to his other duties during the absence on leave of Mr. WILLIAM JAMES CARRIE, with effect from the 22nd April, 1929.

No. 211-His Excellency the Governor has been pleased to appoint, provisionally and subject to His Majesty's pleasure, Mr. BENJAMIN DAVID FLEMING BEITH to be an Unofficial Member of the Legislative Council, during the absence from the Colony of the Honourable Mr. JOHN OWEN HUGHES, with effect from 13th April, 1929.
