No. 82.-His Excellency the Governor has been pleased to-appoint Mr. DAVID WILLIAM TRATMAN to be Assistant Colonial Secretary and Clerk of Councils, with effect from 18th February, 1929.

No. 83.-His Excellency the Governor has been pleased to re-appoint the Rev. Fr. GEORGE BYRNE, D.Ph., to be a Member of the Board of Education for a further period of two years, with effect from 28th February, 1929.

His Excellency the Governor has been pleased, under the provisions of Statute 4 of the Second Schedule of the University Ordinance, 1911, Ordinance No. 10 of 1911, to nominate Mr. IIo Kwong as a member of the Court of the University of Hong Kong for a period of three years, with effect from 4th January, 1927.

No. 85.-His Excellency the Governor has been pleased to appoint, under the provisions of paragraph 8 of Statute 4 of the Second Schedule of the University Ordi- nance, 1911, Ordinance No. 10 of 1911, Mr. HERBERT RICHARD BUDD HANCOCK to act as a member of the Court of the University of Hong Kong, during the absence on leave of Mr. HUGH BLACKWELL LAYARD DOWBIGGIN, with effect from 1st February, 1929.

In order that a complete list may be obtained for record purposes, will those Ladies and Gentlemen resident in Hong Kong and other than Members of His Majesty's Forces, who have had any decoration conferred upon them by His Majesty the KING, please inform the Chief Clerk, Colonial Secretariat. A reply is requested by 9th March, 1929.
No. 87.-Attention is drawn to the fact that the firing of crackers without a permit is illegal.
Applications for permits to fire crackers ashore should be made to the Secretary for Chinese Affairs. The sanction of the Harbour Master is required to fire crackers from vessels of any kind.
Government Notification No. 3, published in the Gazette of the 7th January, 1921, is cancelled.
