No. 3.-The following regulations promulgated by the Provincial Government of Kwangtung with regard to shooting and hunting in the Province of Kwangtung together with a Proclamation issued by the District Magistrate of the Po On District, are published for general information.

KWANGTUNG PROVISIONAL HUNTING REGULATIONS.

I. The term hunting (shou lieh) in these Regulations shall mean catching birds or animals in nets or by firearms or other instruments that are not for military use. No person shall carry with him more than one set of such instruments.

2. A person desiring to hunt game in the Province shall apply to the Civil Adminis- tration Bureau, giving his name, age, nationality, occupation, address, the locality where he wishes to hunt, enclosing two half-length photos 4 inches long, and a fee of $2 (Central Bank notes.) On approval the Civil Administration Bureau will issue to him the required hunting certificate, which shall be renewed annually. The form of such certificate shall be specified in a separate schedule.

3. The holder of a hunting certificate shall, before he actually goes hunting, make due report to the Police as to where he wishes to hunt. The Police in such places, if it appears to them necessary to prohibit hunting for the time being for any reason, shall have power to prohibit it accordingly. While such matters lie within the duty of the Police, the Authorities in all places where no police station has been established, shall see to them.

4. The holder of a hunting certificate shall take with him the certiûcate when he goes hunting, and shall produce it for examination when asked for by the Authorities concerned.

5. No certificate shall hold good for anybody other than the person to whom it was issued.

6. No hunting shall be carried out by the following means :—

1.-Dynamite.

2.- Poisons.

3.--High explosives. 4.--Traps.

In case any of the above are necessary on account of any particular circumstances, due approval of the Authorities in the locality shall be obtained and due notice shall be published in advance.

7. No hunting shall take place in the following places :-

1.---Prohibited mountains.

2.-Government cemeteries of all dynasties.

3.—Public gardens.

4.-Public roads,

5.-Monasteries and temples.

6. Thickly populated places.

7.-Other places which the Authorities have appointed for special purposes or

where hunting has been suppressed on application.
