(c) No service shall count more than two-fold towards the award of the Medal.
3. Service on the Permanent Staff by members of the Permanent Forces shall not reckon as qualifying service for the Medal. Service qualifying for the Territorial Effi- ciency Medal shall also count towards the qualifying service necessary for the Medal.
Service in an auxiliary unit established under the provisions of the Volunteer Ordi-- nance, 1920, shall not count as qualifying service for the Medal except while the unit is called out for actual military service.
APPLICATIONS.
4. Applications for the Medal shall be made in writing by the Commanding Officer of each corps, and shall in each case be supported by a statement of the applicant's service on Form 'A". Commanding Officers will forward their recommendations through the usual channel of correspondence to the Governor, together with the certifi- cate marked "B", or the certificate marked “C”.
5. The Medal being granted as a reward for long and meritorious service, Com-- manding Officers should in each case state in general terms the reasons which, in their opinion, give the applicant a claim to receive the Medal.
PUBLICATION.
6. The grant of the Medal will be published in the Hong Kong Government Gazette.
FORFEITURE.
7. (a) A recipient of the Medal who suffers death by sentence of a Military Court, or is dismissed or removed from his corps or regiment for misconduct, shall forfeit the Medal unless the Governor shall otherwise direct.
(b) A recipient of the Medal who is convicted by the Civil Power, or is called upon to resign shall be liable to forfeit the Medal.
RESTORATION.
8. A medal forfeited under the provisions of regulation 7, may be restored by the- Governor. A notice of forfeiture or of restoration shall in every case be published in the Hong Kong Government Gazette.
Loss.
9. When the Medal has been lost and it is desired to replace it, a declaration must be made before a magistrate stating the circumstances under which the loss occurred, and the rank, name and corps of the person to whom the Medal belonged. This declaration. will be forwarded to the Governor through the usual channel of correspondence in case of a member who is still serving, and direct in the case of a person who has retired. The Medal will be replaced on payment, if the explanation as to loss is considered satis- factory.
WEARING OF MEDAL.
10. The Medal shall be worn after all British War Medals in such order as may from time to time be assigned to it, suspended from the left breast, by a green riband of one inch and-a-half in width.
11. A recipient of the Medal shall be permitted to wear with it any "Territorial Efficiency Medal" which may have been awarded to him, provided that he has completed the full qualifying service required for both medals.
Note:-The regulations set forth in Government Notification No. 27 of 1924, and on pages 834-838 of the Regulations of Hong Kong, 1844-1925 (Appendix) under the heading "Long Service Medal", are superseded.
