APPOINTMENTS, &c.

No. 414. His Majesty the KING has been pleased to approve the appointment of the Honourable Mr. ROLAND ARTHUR CHARLES NORTH to be an Official Member of the Executive and Legislative Councils during his tenure of office as Acting Secretary for Chinese Affairs, with effect from the 27th March, 1928.

No. 415.- His Majesty the KING has been pleased to approve the appointment of the Honourable Mr. WILLIAM EDWARD LEONARD SHENTON to be an Unofficial Member of the Executive and Legislative Councils, vice the Honourable Mr. DALLAS GERALD MERCER BERNARD resigned, with effect from 3rd April, 1928.

No. 416.-His Excellency the Officer Administering the Government has been pleased to make the following promotions in the Hong Kong Volunteer Defence Corps :-

Lieutenant REGINALD ROBERT DAVIES, M.C., M.M. to be Captain, to date from

11th July, 1928.

Second Lieutenant HARRY OWEN HUGHES to be Lieutenant, to date from 4th

July, 1928.

Second Lieutenant NORMAN LESLIE HOWARD RAILTON to be Lieutenant, to date

from 5th July, 1928.

Second Lieutenant ALISTAIR MACKENZIE to be Lieutenant, to date from 6th

July, 1928.

Second Lieutenant STANLEY JARVIS, M.C. to be Lieutenant, to date from 7th

July, 1928.

Second Lieutenant GEORGE DUNCAN, M.B.E. to be Lieutenant, to date from 8th

July, 1928.

To the Owners of Kowloon Inland Lots Nos. 818 and 709.

No. 417.-It is hereby notified under section 4 of the Crown Lands Resumption. Ordinance, 1900, Ordinance No. 10 of 1900, that His Excellency the Governor has been pleased to nominate Mr. EDGAR WILLIAM CARPENTER, J.P., to be a member of the Board (or Boards) of Arbitrators to determine the amounts of compensation to be paid in respect of the resumption of Kowloon Inland Lots Nos. 818 and 709.

In the event of failure by you or any or either of you to nominate a member to represent you on the Board within seven days from the date of publication of this notice the Chairman of the Board will appoint a person on behalf of the owner so failing to nominate.
