1. The Council met pursuant to adjournment. His Excellency the Governor
occupied the Chair.

2. The Minutes of the Meeting held on the 29th March, 1928, were confirmed.
OATH.
3. The Hon. Mr. WILLIAM EDWARD LEONARD SHENTON took the oath of allegiance on
taking his seat as a Member of Council.
ANNOUNCEMENT.
4. The Hon. Sir HENRY E. POLLOCK, Kt., K.C., addressed the Council in appreciation
of the services of Mr. D. G. M. BERNARD.
The Hon. Sir SHOUSON CHOW spoke in support.
His Excellency the Governor replied.
PETITIONS.
5. The Attorney General informed the Council that a petition to the Council in connection with the Bill intitled an Ordinance to provide for the registration and regulation of watchmen had been received, that copies had been sent to all Hon. Members, and that the petition had been considered by the Government and had been discussed in the Executive Council. He moved that it be laid on the table.
The Colonial Secretary seconded and the Council agreed. The petition was laid
on the table accordingly.

(No. 3), dated 29th March, 1928, and moved its adoption.

MOTIONS.
8. Chinese Temples Bill.-The Hon. Sir SHOUSON Cпow, Kt., addressed the Council and moved the First reading of a Bill intituled An Ordinance to suppress and prevent abuses in the management of Chinese temples and in the administration of the funds of Chinese temples.
The Hon. Mr. R. H. KOTEWALL, C.M.G., LL.D. seconded. The Attorney General addressed the Council in support. Question-put and agreed to.
