The Astronomical positions are only approximate unless seconds are given. The bearings are given both True and Magnetic, and those relating to lights are from seaward. The visibility of lights is that in clear weather. Fog signals are sounded only in thick or foggy weather. The elevation given is the height of focal plane above high water.

Inner Barrier Route.
Piper Islands.-Light Established.--Piper Islands Lightship
Withdrawn.-Beacon Discontinued.
WITH reference to Notice No. 18 of 1917, Mariners and others are hereby notified that-
(1) the Group Flashing White Light is now permanently established; (2) the Piper Islands Lightship is withdrawn; and
(3) the Red Triangular Beacon is discontinued.
New Light-Position.-On the East Elbow of Eastern Reef, Piper Islands, in the position previously occupied by Red Triangular Beacon. Lat. 12° 15' S.; Long. 143° 14′ E.
Structure.--Steel Skeleton Tower, painted Red, on concrete piers.
