CONDITIONS OF LETTING.
1. The Lot is delineated on the plan deposited in the District Office, Hongkong.
2. Any Party, whose tender in writing may be accepted for the Lot, shall pay into the Colonial Treasury, within seven days of the date of such acceptance, a sum equivalent to three months' rent of such Lot as security for the proper fulfilment of the conditions of the quarry permit. He shall then be entitled to, and shall be granted a permit to quarry granite from the Lot for a period commencing from the 1st day of December; 1917, to the 30th day of November, 1918, at the rental specified in his tender, a propor- tionate part of such being payable in advance on or before the 3rd day of December, 1947, and on the 1st day of June, 1918, A permit to quarry will be issued by the Assistant District Officer, South.
3. The Government will permit, if practicable, the Permittee to erect and maintain such temporary pier and jetty as may in the opinion of the Assistant District Officer, South, be reasonably necessary for the purpose of shipping stone cut in the Quarry into junks or boats; the sites and dimensions of such temporary pier and jetty shall be subject in all respects to the approval of the Assistant District Officer, South, who nay at any time direct the removal of any such temporary pier or jetty to any other place, the expense of such removal to be borne by the Permittee.
4. The Permittee of the Quarry to fill in any holes in the Quarry to such levels and to the satisfaction of the Assistant District Officer, South, if called upon to do so.
5. The Permittee of the Quarry to construct such drains as may be necessary to carry off any surplus water which may accumulate in the Quarry, the work to be done to the satisfaction of the Assistant District Officer, South.
6. Should any party whose tender is accepted fail to comply with these conditions or any one of them, the sum deposited by him shall be forfeited to the Government and the tender made by him shall thereupon be deemed to be cancelled, and he shall be liable to make good any loss or damage which the Government may incur through his failure to comply with such conditions.
7. No rates will be charged on the Quarry.

MEDICAL DEPARTMENT,
No. S. 257. It is hereby notified that sealed tenders in duplicate, which should be clearly marked Tender for Medical Department Contract", will be received at the Colonial Secretary's Office until noon of Saturday, the 27th October, 1917, for the supply of Aerated Waters; Bedding and Clothing; Beers, Spirits, Wines, etc.; Spirit of Wine; Chemicals, Drugs, Surgical Instruments, and Sundries; Furniture, etc.; Milk, etc.; Provisions; Sundries; and Washing; (Schedules Nos. 1 to 10) required locally by this Department, for the period of one year from the first of January next inclusive.
Tenders may be made for the 10 Schedules, or for each separately.
No tender will be considered unless the person tendering produces a receipt to the effect that he has deposited in the Colonial Treasury the sum of $200 as a pledge of the bona fides of his offer, which sum shall be forfeited to the Crown if such person shall refuse to carry out his tender, should the tender be accepted.
The Contractor will be required to enter into a Bond for the due fulfilment of his contract, and for the supply of all articles of the best quality.
The Contractor for Schedules Nos. 7 and 8 will be required to deliver the supplies for the Victoria Hospital for Women and Children at the Hospital on Barker Road (Peak).
The Contractor for Schedule No. 8 will be required to supply store accommodation ample enough for the housing of provisions, and such store must be kept in a sanitary condition.
