Inner Barrier Route Piper Islands.
Intended New Light.
Piper Island Lightship to be Withdrawn. Beacon to be Discontinued. MARINERS and others are hereby notified that--
(1) the new Group Flashing White Light will be exhibited experimentally on
or about 1st September, 1917;
(2) the Piper Island Lightship will be withdrawn on or about 1st October, 1917;
(3) the Red Triangular Beacon will be discontinued on or about 1st September,
1917.
Position. On the East Elbow of Eastern Reef, Piper Islands, in the position now occupied by Red Triangular Beacon. Lat. 12° 15' S.; Long. 143 143 E.
New Light-Structure.--Steel Skeleton Tower, painted red, on concrete piers. Height, 61 feet.
